Electro-acupuncture For electro-acupuncture, acupuncture needles are placed as they would for regular acupuncture treatment. Electrodes are attached to the needles at specific locations and a small pulse of electricity is passed through the needles. Intensity and frequency of the pulses can be varied according to the condition being treated. Electro stimulation is a more effective treatment than regular acupuncture and in many cases, brings faster results. Electro-acupuncture awakens nerves to send messages to the brain more effectively than regular acupuncture. Electro-acupuncture is the preferred method of treatment for neuromuscular problems such as IVDD and DM.
Veterinary Acupuncture
Veterinary Acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment option complementary to regular veterinary medicine to provide comfort, wellbeing, and improved quality of life for your pet. Acupuncture controls and reduces pain, stimulates nerves, regenerates tissues and restores normal physiology for health and wellbeing. Acupuncture should be considered in animals with intolerance to some medications such as NSAIDs. Acupuncture successfully treats many conditions negating the need for drugs and/or surgery.
Herbal Supplements There are many herbal combinations that have been shown to be effective in treating many conditions in pets and horses. Based on traditional Chinese herbal formulas herbal supplements have been used to greatly enhance the effects of acupuncture or in some cases reduce the need for treatments. Often a herbal medicine is recommended to support the acupuncture therapy. Herbal supplementation may be thought of as daily “acupuncture in a bottle”. Our herbal preparations are formulated for treatment of specific conditions and are veterinary use only.
